International Women's Day 2024

March 8, 2024

International Women's Day is a global day celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement. IWD gives focus to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.  IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.

As we celebrate International Women's Day in 2024, the theme of #inspireinclusion resonates profoundly within our company, where respect and inclusion is one of our core values. In a world where diversity is celebrated, and equality is sought, the significance of fostering an inclusive environment cannot be overstated. #InspireInclusion encapsulates our commitment to empower all women, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every perspective valued and that we can all play a part in whatever seat we occupy. By championing inclusion, we not only honour the diversity within our workforce but also harness the collective strength that arises from embracing differences. As we contemplate the triumphs and challenges experienced by women globally, let's work to establish an environment where everyone is valued and respected.

Inclusive and diverse companies are typically more successful. Whether this is including more women in senior roles or creating a culture where we are considerate of diversity. In the last 12 months 40% of our office-based roles were filled by women. We have also increased the percentage of women in leadership roles considerably, by 33% across many departments.

Allison Morrissey, Chief People Officer of Activ8 Solar Energies expressed her enthusiasm for International Women’s Day, saying: “I am proud of the journey Activ8 are on to increase inclusivity be that through more diverse pipelines at Talent Acquisition or having more women across all levels of leadership. There is still more to do on our journey to accelerate progress, but we are committed to keeping momentum going!”

As we celebrate International Women's Day and reflect on the strides we've made towards inclusion and equality, let us recommit ourselves to the ongoing journey of progress. Together, we celebrate the achievements of women worldwide, while acknowledging the work that still lies ahead. Through collective effort and unwavering commitment, we can truly inspire inclusion and create a brighter, more equitable future for all.
