Workplace and employee wellbeing is a very important part of how we operate here in Activ8 Solar Energies. We have spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 planning out our future home, the new Activ8 HQ. But bricks and mortar is only aspect of how employees are looked after. While we were planning our new premises, 2020 and 2021 brought their own unique challenges. We all know that. So we brought in Spectrum Life…

We announced this externally last week. CIF (Construction Industry Federation) Ireland held their annual Safety Week from Monday 25th October until Friday 29th. Like every other year, 2021 was a week where we got involved and with Tuesday’s theme being Mind Your Health – it was an ideal time to announce our Spectrum Life platform.

The International Labour Organisation defines employee wellbeing as:

“Workplace wellbeing relates to all aspects of working life, from the quality and safety of the physical environment, to how workers feel about their work, their working environment, the climate at work and work organisation.”

Activ8 are delighted to be able to offer our employees and their family the wonderful services at Spectrum Life.  This includes:

2020 brought with it a number of additional hurdles, which are still visible this year, with that in mind, encouraging our employees to be mindful of both their physical and mental health became a priority focus for Activ8 Solar Energies.

The Government’s Healthy Ireland’s Strategic Action Plan 2021-2025 outlines priority focuses for the next three years including:

Keeping Active – We continue to encourage our employees to keep active through our company challenges (One Step at a Time), offering free gym membership in our local gym and through our digital gym program via Spectrum Life.  Promoting physical activity is vital for both our mental health and our overall wellbeing.

Staying connected – It is important more than ever that we support each other to stay connected and talk.  Whether that is over a coffee in person or virtually.  Providing professional support through our Spectrum Life app provides an additional provision to engage in a confidential way.

Eating well – Eating well can increase our physical activity levels and promote our mental wellbeing.  Our spectrum life app provides healthy, easy recipes with nutritional information to assist making healthier choices.

Minding your mind & body –   it is important that we recognise when we are stressed or if we are feeling physically unwell that can access expert advice to understand and access support or treatment.  Alongside contacting our GP’s, we offer our employees and their family professional medical and counselling support and advice through the Spectrum Life App.

We all need to look at ways in which we can individually improve our own mental health, and be mindful of the changes ahead.  Providing our employees with additional support whilst raising awareness of the importance of minding your health has been vital throughout these challenging times.

  • Be aware of your own wellbeing, accept help when it is offered;
  • Be mindful of maintaining a good work-life balance by setting clear boundaries and learning how to switch off;
  • Communicate more, is your employer aware of your current situation, talk to your employer!
  • Offer support to others, ask your colleague how they are, don’t forget to check in on people.
  • Stay social, even virtually.
