This will typically support 20-30% of the investment cost, reducing payback to as little as 5 years.
New Solar PV Scheme enhancements will boost business investment in renewable energy generation.
The Guaranteed Irish symbol is recognised nationwide as a mark of trust, awarded to companies dedicated to creating sustainable jobs and fostering local economies
Activ8 x SSE Airtricity
SSE Airtricity, the Irish arm of global brand SSE plc and energy provider to over 700,000 customers, invested in 50% of Activ8 Energies in 2019.
This partnership combines SSE’s scale and experience with Activ8’s solar expertise to accelerate the delivery of renewable energy solutions.

Power Purchase Agreement
Activ8’s strategic partnership with SSE Airtricity gives commercial clients the option to choose a Power Purchase Agreement.
This allows them to reduce up-front costs and lock-in the future price of their electricity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Commercial Solar
In most European countries, including Ireland, planning permission is not required for solar panel installations on commercial rooftops, provided the system meets certain criteria (e.g. not exceeding height limits, not being visible from protected structures, etc.). However, ground-mounted systems or installations in conservation areas may require approval.
Our commercial solar panels warranties are typically from 25 to 30 years, with most systems maintaining strong performance beyond that, ensuring long-term peace of mind. We manage the full process from install to ongoing monitoring, operation and maintenance for long term investment protection.
We assess your energy consumption, roof or land space, and business goals to calculate the optimal system size. Using a custom energy profile and 3D modelling, our in-house fully qualified solar engineers will design a solution tailored to your operational needs.
Microgeneration refers to the ability to export excess energy back to the grid. This generation will be paid for by your energy provider. Your ability to avail of microgeneration income will be dependent on your system, Activ8 will explore all options with you.
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a long-term contract between a business (the energy buyer) the energy seller, in this case, SSE Airtricity. There is no upfront cost to the business and they agree to purchase the electricity generated at a fixed rate—usually lower than grid prices.
Yes. In Ireland, businesses can avail of SEAI government grants ranging from €2,400 for a 6kWp system to €162,600 for a 1,000kWp system for commercial solar PV installations. Businesses in the UK can avail of Green Loans and Funding Schemes to offset costs.
