Activ8 Energies Wins Energy Project of the Year

We’re proud to announce that Activ8 Energies, in partnership with SSE Airtricity Energy Services and Monaghan County Council, has won Energy Project of the Year at the All-Ireland Sustainability Awards for the Monaghan Area Based Retrofit Initiative (MABRI).

The award recognises ambitious energy projects demonstrating impact, innovation, best practice, alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and a strong commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Transforming homes. Reducing carbon. Building communities.

MABRI is a pioneering area-based retrofit programme combining deep energy upgrades, renewable technologies and community engagement to accelerate residential decarbonisation in Monaghan.

Phase 1 delivered whole-house upgrades to 48 Local Authority homes and five neighbouring private homes, incorporating air-source heat pumps, solar PV, external wall insulation, high-performance windows and doors, ventilation improvements and enhanced building fabric.

Across the wider region, a further 115 solar PV installations are generating approximately 645,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, avoiding more than 105 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.

The project stood out for its measurable environmental impact, innovative area-based approach, community focus and potential to be replicated by Local Authorities across Ireland.

This award is recognition of what can be achieved through strong partnerships, innovative thinking and a shared commitment to a more sustainable energy future.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making MABRI a success.
