Low Carbon Energy has today become Activ8 Energies, marking the next stage in the evolution of the business and establishing a single brand across its operations in the UK and Ireland.
The rebrand follows Activ8 Energies’ acquisition of the business in 2025 and brings the UK operation under the Activ8 Energies identity, creating a clearer proposition for customers and reflecting the scale, expertise and capability of the wider organisation.
For more than 15 years, Low Carbon Energy has built a strong reputation as one of the UK’s leading commercial renewable energy specialists, delivering projects for organisations including Boeing, BMW, Porsche, Co-op, Drax Power, Tata Steel, Wickes, United Utilities and the NHS. Most recently, the business completed the landmark 3MW solar installation at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, capable of generating up to 25% of the airport’s annual electricity demand through on-site renewable generation.
The move builds on that established UK track record, bringing it together with Activ8 Energies’ wider operations across Ireland, the UK and Europe. It combines the experience and relationships of the existing UK team with Activ8 Energies’ growing technical capability, resources and experience delivering renewable energy projects at scale.
For existing Low Carbon Energy customers, the rebrand is exactly that, a new name. The team, the relationships and the commitment to delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions remain unchanged. Customers will continue to work with the same people they know and trust, with no impact on existing projects, contracts or day-to-day support.
For organisations considering a renewable energy partner, Activ8 Energies brings together decades of specialist renewable energy expertise, an established track record of delivery and the capability to support increasingly ambitious energy projects across the UK.

Ciaran Marron, CEO of Activ8 Energies, said:
“The business has earned an outstanding reputation in the UK by consistently delivering high-quality renewable energy projects and building long-term relationships with its customers.
Becoming Activ8 Energies is a natural progression. It creates a single identity across our operations while better reflecting the scale of the organisation and the strength that sits behind our business today.
Our strategic relationship with SSE has played a pivotal role in the growth of Activ8 Energies over recent years. Today, as we celebrate 20 years in business, we’re able to combine specialist renewable energy expertise with the capability, investment and long-term confidence that comes from being part of one of the UK’s leading energy groups.”
Benedict Ennis, Managing Director, UK, Activ8 Energies, said:
“This is an exciting milestone for our business and gives us a much stronger platform for growth in the UK.
The people, the service and the relationships our customers value remain exactly the As Activ8 Energies, we can combine the agility and specialist expertise of our team with the wider capability of Activ8 and the strength and backing of SSE. That combination puts us in a very strong position to meet the growing ambitions of organisations looking to invest in renewable energy.”
