A 160.38 kWp commercial solar PV system was installed across three buildings at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, generating approximately 128,728 kWh annually. Completed in just three weeks, the project overcame the challenges of a live hospital site through detailed planning, traffic management, and close coordination between HSE and Activ8 Solar Energies The installation involved complex electrical integration, including long cable runs between distant PV panels and a single G10 connection point, ensuring full site compliance with ESB standards. This low-maintenance system secures long-term energy savings and showcases the role of solar in supporting Ireland’s healthcare facilities.

This system generates around 128,728 kWh/yr of electricity annually.
